THANK YOU

For those of you joining us this Thursday October 1st…

Thank you for saying that as a man, you wish to take a moment to reflect on the realities for women, you wish to speak out against men’s violence against women… you wish to role model this to other men and the Ryerson community by Walking A Mile In Her Shoes in the Walk to End Violence Against Women.

Thank you for saying that as a women, you wish to show support and encouragement to men who are brave enough, who are man enough to stand up and speak out against men’s violence against women.

DAY OF THE WALK

This Thursday, we will gather in front of the Student Campus Centre at 11:30am, say a few words and walk over to Nathan Phillips Square to join the rest of the city of Toronto in walking to help end men’s violence against women.

This is a free event, the walk aims to fund raise for the White Ribbon Campaign, but we just want Ryerson students, faculty and staff to come out and speak out against the violence. Please try to register for the event at http://www.walkamiletoronto.org under team ‘Ryerson University’ before this Thursday. We will walk as a group and a team down to Nathan Phillips Square for 12 noon. (100 Queen Street West, on the northwest corner of Queen and Bay st http://www.toronto.com/attractions/listing/100249#mapAnchor)

**If you have a class that ends at 12noon, YOU CAN STILL JOIN US FOR THE WALK. Please come down to Nathan Phillips Square right after class, There will be speeches so you will have plenty of time before we commence the walk.

WHERE DO I GET SHOES

We won’t have high heels for everyone, sorry guys 🙂

However… Heels will be made available to rent on site at Nathan Phillips Square for a donation of $5, we will try to get some Pink Flip Flops to hand out at the gathering, but if you can spare the $5 please do so 🙂 The money goes to the work of the White Ribbon Campaign as they need to fund raise to survive and do their work as they have no core funding. Visit http://www.whiteribbon.ca to find out more about what the White Ribbon Campaign does to help create a future with no violence against women.
