There is an old saying: “You can’t really understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.”

That’s why we’re asking men and self-identified men at Ryerson University and University of Toronto to put on a pair of Women’s shoes (anything from high heels to flats to flip flops, or wear your regular shoes andt come out!) and join the White Ribbon Campaign to Walk A Mile in Her Shoes®.

On Thursday September 30th, 2010 we’re all going to help end violence against women and girls, one step at time. Not to say that by wearing a pair of women’s shoes, will you have a sense of the reality of life for women in our society, but it is a symbolic gesture and a statement that you want to stand up and start making a difference.

Let’s get members of the Ryerson and U of T communities to walk together, side by side, in support of a future without violence.

If you are interested in participating or more information, please email us at whiteribbon@ryerson.ca and visit walkamiletoronto.org.

Join us and walk, or Register and get folks to sponsor your walk, all proceeds go to the work of the White Ribbon Campaign to create a future with no violence against women. Volunteer at the walk, put on some shoes or bring signs to help create awareness or come and cheer us on. Join us!!!
